Roberta Nelson Shea – Universal Robots
Roberta is the Global Technical Compliance Officer at Universal Robots responsible for product compliance and reducing barriers to global acceptance and deployment. Within this scope, she is an active public speaker to help companies embrace UR robots as “smart robots” that enable collaborative robot system applications, while participating in standards development and providing training to Universal Robots’ staff globally.
Roberta Nelson Shea has already spent over 40 years as a professional within the field of manufacturing automation. Twenty-three of these years, she chaired the US-American National Robot Safety Committee. She now holds the position of Chair Emeritus of standardization for the Robotic Industries Association. She was elected one of the top 100 Women in Safety by the American Society of Safety Engineers. As chair of the ANSI/RIA R15.06, she has also developed and defined various technical standards for industrial robots. As chair of the committee that established ISO 10218, is the first document defining standardized safety requirements within human-robot-collaboration (HRC).
Roberta Nelson Shea holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Engineering in Advanced Safety Engineering and Management. top management positions at Symbotic, Applied Manufacturing Technologies, Pilz Automation Safety L.P., Honeywell, and Procter & Gamble Manufacturing Company.
